A New Journey in Faith

Today I want to share something of the journey I, along with Deb and our family, have been on in recent months. In April, after a routine checkup and subsequent biopsy, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This was not what we expected to hear, but received it as a part of God’s plan for my life knowing full well we can trust Him in everything.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. —Proverbs 3:5-6
So, after consultation with my doctors, led by my personal physician Dr. Ken Cooper, I chose to have surgery on May 14. The surgery was successful and my team of doctors has assured my prognosis is outstanding. Of course, we are grateful for this good news.

After much prayer, it was my desire to keep the surgery private for a number of reasons. So, ten days after surgery, I returned to the pulpit and a somewhat scaled-back schedule. That was a push, but God has been faithful to strengthen me.

Now, in the providence of God, Prestonwood has given us a two-month sabbatical. It is perfect timing to begin that sabbatical now for the continued healing of my body, soul and spirit.
Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. —1 Thessalonians 5:23
During this time, we will travel, relax, and enjoy our family. I also feel it is important to cancel my speaking engagements away and focus on my personal walk with Christ, fortify my faith, and make sure in all this journey that Christ is magnified.
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. —Psalm 23:2-3a
Thank you, church family and PowerPoint listeners, for praying for us always, and I know you will continue to intercede for us.

Men, right out of my personal experience, let me remind you to get regular checkups, and that includes your PSA. This kind of preventive medicine has given me the healing from God I have needed. So, guys, bless your family by making sure you maintain good health through regular checkups and taking good care of yourself.

Jack,

We know that God will heal you completely as He has much more for you to do here. There are many lost people that need to hear the Gospel and God will continue to use you to share the love and saving Grace of Jesus.

Dr. Graham:

Truly you are a man who "talks the talk" while "walking the walk". I allowed the current financial climate to damage my relationship with my family, my friends and most importantly with the our Heavenly Father. On the Sundays I was in church, you would have thought I just ate two pounds of green persimmons by the expression on my face.

When I picked up the bulletin this past Sunday, the Lord got my attention via your testimony. Truly Christ has overcome! Thank you for living your Faith. You were in need of ministering yet you continued to minister to others.

We are thankful for your prognosis. We pray your time away will be restorative and rejuvenating. To God be the Glory great things He is doing.

Pastor,

We thank God for your prognosis, for your doctor's discernment and for the surgeon's skills. And we give thanks for your leadership even during personally difficult times.

Each night, Delaney prays that God will "make Pastor Graham feel better," and we give that a big Amen!

We'll miss your teaching for these couple of months. But we can't wait to have you back among us, healed, refreshed and strengthened.

Jack,
I had no idea that you had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Our prayers are with you, Debbie, the kids and grandkids.
Unfortunately, I also found out about 1 month ago that I have cancer. Mine is a tumor in my upper chest region that is laying on top of my bronchial tubes making it uneasy to breath.
I started chemo last week and made it through the first of my 4 cycles. Prognosis is good for me as well.
Even though it has been many years since we have seen each other you are still my spiritual mentor and I gain strength from each message I hear you preach.
God Bless You and Deb,
I pray for God's healing of your body, and hope to come worship at Prestonwood one day when you return to the pulpit.

Pastor Graham,

You and your family are in our prayers. You have been such an important part of our family though you have never met us. We even have a picture of you in our living room from the day our youngest son was dedicated. I'm sure you know but it needs to be said again that you are truely loved. You are an inspriration to my family and so many, many others. Thank you for all you do.

I pray for a full recovery, good family times while "resting" and many more years for you to bring God's word and truth to God's people. I have listened to you on the radio and get your newsletter. Thank you for your inspiration and for not trying to just increase the numbers of saved but for challenging us to walk in Christ's word while we are his "light" on Earth.God Bless your family, ministry and you.

Jack,

You are my pastor and treasured friend. Know that the Lewis family will be praying for your full recover and a restful and rich time with your family over the next few months.

You have been a wonderful and faithful encourager to so many in our church and in particular to me personally and my family as we went through Caroline's health issues and the recent passing of Margaret's dad.

You guided Prestonwood out of its darkest days and brought us to a beautiful hilltop in Plano to build one of the most effective and Christ honoring ministries in one of the finest facilities imaginable.

Now my friend your church will have the opportunity to pray for you in a new way.

To God ..Be the Glory....Great things HE has done.

Pastor,

I have been a member of Prestonwood since 2004, but prior to moving back to the Dallas area from Houston, I relied heavily on PowerPoint daily radio to help me through my own dark times. Pastor, your ministry and walk, which is obviously led by the Holy Spirit, has been and continues to be such an inspiration for untold thousands of men - and women - throughout the United States and the World. I am saddened to hear about this personal challenge that you and your family are facing; but know in your heart of hearts that you are being lifted up in prayer by thousands of Christians daily. Enjoy your sabbatical and know that God has not accomplished all that he has for you to do. I claim it a victory in faith that you will return healed and with a renewed zeal for your incredible ministerial walk.

Good Bless,
